New technologies are making cooking easier and more enjoyable. Below, three recent advances in cooking equipment are described and explained.

1. Smartypans. These pans take the guesswork out of cooking by offering useful capabilities including measuring temperature settings and ingredient weights in real time and communicating with an app via a microcontroller. The pans operate on a rechargeable battery and ensure recipes are prepared precisely each time they are made.

2. Sous Vide. This oven cooks food by using water rather than air like traditional ovens do. As a type of slow cooking, the food is cooked in string vacuum seal plastic bags which protect it and seal in flavors and nutrients. It can cook many meat dishes in about 30 minutes and won’t burn foods.

3. Lynx Grill. A smart grill, this high-tech grill is voice activated, wi-fi enabled, and dramatically simplifies cooking. It provides you with precise information such as when to turn foods over and when they are done.
